WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE OF AIZPUTE LOCAL HISTORY MUSEUM!

Since September 15, 1999, Aizpute's New Castle Manor (Jaunā Pilsmuiža) on the banks of the Mill Pond of the Tebra River has been home to the Aizpute Local History Museum.

This is a place where we try to create an environment step by step with its order, a pleasant and appropriate home for ancient things and events related to the history of the town. Here they tell visitors their stories, recall events and emotions once experienced and already forgotten, give the joy of seeing childhood and adolescence times again, while celebrating their "second life".

In addition to taking care of the preservation of the cultural and historical heritage of Aizpute and ensuring its accessibility to today's society and future generations, we also think how to be useful to everyone who is interested. Since the summer of 2015, in the "Exposition of Ancient Rural Crafts Skills" located in the renovated premises of the Castle Manor basement, we offer visitors to work under the guidance of craftsmen in various workshops, thus breaking the ingrained stereotypes about the museum as a place where "time has stopped".

We are happy and pleased to present the "A Walk Around Aizpute a Hundred Years Ago and Today" section of this website, which offers the opportunity to take a virtual tour around Aizpute by turning the wheel of time 100 years ago.

We know that the New Castle Manor is a place where dreams live and come true, so we work with the desire to become a beautiful business card of Aizpute, where our visitors would say: "I definitely want to come back here again".
